The hollow glass microspheres which act as the platform for MTL’s coating technologies, gas-filled spherical particles with diameters typically between 10-100μm. The walls of these microspheres are rigid and non-porous, with thicknesses ranging typically from 1-10% of the microsphere diameter. The crush strenght is directly related to the density, i.e. the higher the density, the higher the strength. For example, a microsphere with a density of 0.125g/cc may have a crush strength rating of 250psi, whereas one with a density of 0.6g/cc may be rated up to 30000psi!
